I was tempted to skip the game for a beach day, but decided to stay and watch. Big mistake on my part.

Three stars

1. Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (6 catches for 116 yards and a TD).
2. Browns safety Rodney McLeod (Blocked field goal return for a TD, team-high 8 tackles)
3. Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham (played in his franchise-record 200^th regular-season game)

Eagles’ best play

The Eagles broke a 13-13 tie when wide receiver DeVonta Smith made a terrific catch against tight coverage for a 45-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Eagles’ worst play

Browns defensive end Miles Garrett leapt over the Eagles interior offensive line and blocked a field goal attempt by Jake Elliott. Ex-Eagles Rodney McLeod scooped it up and ran 50 yards for a TD.

Turning point

Trailing 20-13, the Browns had a chance to tie it when the reached the Eagles 3-yard line in the fourth quarter. Back-to-back false start penalties backed them up to the 13-yard line, forcing them to settle for a field goal.

Did you notice?

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni shaved his head during the bye week.… Goedert (hamstring), cornerback Darius Slay (knee) and left tackle Jordan Mailata (hamstring) all left the game.… Quarterback Jalen Hurts did not commit a turnover for the first time this season.… Angels outfielder Mike Trout, an Eagles season-ticket holder, was wearing a “Dad Szn” hat from a company co-founded by Nick Foles.
