Dave Weinberg’s Eagles-Cowboys 2-minute Drill
Eagles' best number: 5 (Defensive takeaways)
Eagles' worst number: 5 (sacks allowed by offensive line)
View from my living room:
I had a chance to catch up with longtime friend and former fellow Eagles beat writer Steve Patton (Reading Eagle) on Saturday at Harpoon’s on the Bay in Lower Township. Good times.
Three stars
- Eagles linebacker Zack Baun (8 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 forced fumble).
- Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (5 receptions for 109 yards).
- Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown (11 tackles, 2 sacks)
Eagles’ best play
The Eagles defense came up with a number of big plays. The biggest came in the first half, when Baun knocked the ball loose from Cowboys Ezekiel Elliott as he was headed toward the goal-line and Eagles rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean recovered the fumble in the end zone for a touchback.
Eagles’ worst play
Quarterback Jalen Hurts committed two turnovers, including an ill-advised pass toward tight end Dallas Goedert in the end zone that ended in an interception by Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs.
Turning point
The Eagles took control with a pair of touchowns in the third quarter. Hurts hit rookie wide receiver Johnny Wilson for a 5-yard TD, then ran it in from 8 yards out on the next series to put them ahead 28-12.
