Flyers Development Camp started on Thursday and among the participants are top prospects Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny.  There are Flyers fans who hope to see Provorov and Konecny in the big club's lineup next season following up on the season from Calder Memorial Trophy Nominee Shayne Gostisbehere.

But Flyers General Manager Ron Hextall has been vocal about not wanting to bring young players up to the NHL too soon.  As a guest on The Sports Bash Thursday Hextall talked about why Gostisbehere was a unique situation for a Rookie:

"There is no question Gostisbehere helped us last year.  Ghost is also a ‘93er, people tend to forget that this was not an 18 or 19 year old coming out of Juniors. This is a guy that was 22 years old at the time, you have to be cognoscente of that. If you ask Shayne if he would have been ready for this if he were 18 or 19 or 20 I am sure he would tell you he wouldn't.  As a matter of fact, his first year pro when he was 21 he wasn't ready.”
