Eagles’ All-Pro Center Cam Jurgens Underwent Back Surgery
Philadelphia Eagles starting center Cam Jurgens was active. but did not start the team's NFC championship game against Washington. He did enter the NFC Championship game when his replacement, Landon Dickerson, had to leave with a knee injury. Jurgens was able to start the Super Bowl win over Kansas City.
Now we have a better idea why.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jurgens underwent a back procedure to “alleviate nerve pain" with a full recovery expected by the time training camp starts.
Landon Dickerson, who also missed some time with an injury during the team's playoff run, started at center against Washington but could not finish the game so Jurgens finished the game.
The team just parted ways with veteran center Nick Gates, so with Jurgens getting back surgery, they will likely need to address the backup center position this offseason.
The team will have at least four of its five starters back in 2025, with right guard Mekhi Becton the only free agent. Tyler Steen, who will be entering this third season, is a potential replacement at right guard, but they don't have an obvious replacement at center if Jurgens were to miss multiple weeks.
However, if Jurgens were to miss time and the team needed to slide Dickerson over to center if Becton was gone and Steen was playing right guard, the team would need to find a solid backup left guard option, which could be 2024 fifth-round pick Trevor Keegan.
