Eagles and Commanders Have Starters Questionable For Sunday’s Game
The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing to host the NFC Championship Game for the second time in the last three years. But for the first time in this postseason run, the team has injuries that are concerning heading into Sunday's matchup with the Washington Commanders.
The good news is after sustaining an injury to his left knee in Sunday's game, Quarterback Jalen Hurts participated in Practice all week and his teammates say he looks good. Also, after managing his own Knee injury in the last few weeks, Wide Receiver AJ Brown says this week has been the best he has felt in weeks at practice.
But the injuries that popped up this week of concern were to Tight End Dallas Goedert and Starting Center Cam Jurgens.
Goedert did not participate in Wednesday and Thursday practices as he was dealing with an ankle injury. Multiple reports say this is the same Ankle Issue he had to deal with earlier this season.
Jurgens was not participating in Wednesday and Thursday Practices with a Back Issue. On Thursday, Starting Left Guard Landon Dickerson took snaps at Center with the First Time Offense in Jurgens' absence.
The big news for the Washington Commanders is they will be without their best offensive lineman for Sunday's game. Sam Cosmi sustained a season-ending knee injury during the team's win over the Detroit Lions.
On the defensive side of the ball, two important players for Washington did not practice Wednesday and Thursday. Linebacker Bobby Wagner is dealing with an Ankle Injury while Defensive Tackle Daron Payne has issues with his Knee and Finger.
Both Eagles and Commanders Have Starters Listed As Questionable
At Friday's Practice, both Dallas Goedert and Cam Jurgens were back on the field inside the NovaCare center. The last two days the Eagles practiced outside at Lincoln Financial Field, so one can assume the Eagles Training Staff didn't want Goedert or Jurgens to deal with the outdoor elements any earlier than necessary.
Dallas Goedert told the media on Friday that he always expected to play this Sunday, so it was no surprise when Philadelphia listed him with no Injury Designation for Sunday's game. The Eagles Tight End has eight catches for 103 Receiving Yards and a Touchdown in their two postseason games.
The only Eagles starter listed as Questionable is Center Cam Jurgens. The Pro Bowl Center declined to speak with the media on Friday in order to get treatment. Jurgens' teammates told the media on Thursday and Friday they expect him to play in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.
Washington listed three players as Questionable for Sunday's game in Philadelphia. The biggest name is Daron Payne who did not participate again at practice on Friday. Payne had the fourth most Sacks for the Washington Defense this season and played over 68 percent of the Defensive Snaps during the Regular Season.
Along with Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles as Honorary Team Captain for Philadelphia this Sunday, another former Eagles player from the Super Bowl Championship Team on the field will be Tight End Zach Ertz. Ertz, who plays for Washington this season, will be a future Eagles Hall of Famer, joining his former teammates:
