In an effort to address the lack of depth at Wide Receiver and Defensive Back due to injuries, the Philadelphia Eagles announced two elevations from their Practice Squad for the Sunday Night Football matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

On Saturday, the Eagles announced they are elevating Wide Receiver Julio Jones and Defensive Back Mekhi Garner to the Active Roster, allowing both to be available for Sunday's 8:20 pm Kickoff against the Dolphins.  Julio Jones was signed earlier this week after the Eagles worked out three Wide Receivers in an effort to gain some more depth at the position.  Quez Watkins was placed on Injured Reserve as he continues to deal with a Hamstring Injury that kept him out of three games this season along with missing most of August's Training Camp.

Now with Watkins missing at least the next four games, the Eagles have brought in Two-Time First Team All-Pro Julio Jones.  During his 10 seasons in Atlanta, Jones was one of the best Wide Receivers in the NFL and has compiled a career resume that will be in consideration for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  At 34 Years Old, the 6'3" Veteran Receiver believes he can still be a contributor despite injuries that have slowed him down the last three seasons.

While Julio Jones role in the Eagles offense is uncertain for a team that already has two elite Wide Receivers starting for them. the elevation of Mekhi Garner is a significant sign of Philadelphia's plans for Sunday Night.  The 23 year old Garner has been cross training at different defensive back positions over the last two seasons with the Eagles organization.  Thanks to Bradley Roby being ruled out and Avonte Maddox out indefinitely plus Justin Evans on the IR and Reed Blankenship missing his second game with a Ribs Injury, the Eagles desperately need depth at Nickel Cornerback and Safety.

Garner will likely be the Eagles number three safety behind Veteran Terrell Edmunds and Rookie Sydney Brown.  Despite Tristan McCollum's versatility and Mario Goodrich experience playing Nickel Corner, Philadelphia chose to elevate Garner instead and he will likely get playing time at Slot Corner along with Josiah Scott.  The Dolphins are the number one scoring offense in the NFL this season and the Eagles need "all hands on deck" in their efforts to slow them down.
