Eagles Hire Josh Grizzard as Pass Game Coordinator

On Thursday, it was announced that the team hired former Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator and that he would be calling plays.

On Friday, Philadelphia added a coach with NFL offensive coordinator and play-calling experience to their coaching staff this offseason, but he will not be the play-caller.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles are hiring former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard as the pass game coordinator. Grizzard interviewed for the Eagles' offensive coordinator position, got a second interview, and now lands in this role.

Grizzard put in a season as the offensive coordinator in Tampa and was the team's pass game coordinator in 2024, where he helped lead an offense that finished the 2025 season sixth in yards per attempt and ranked in the top three in both passing yards (4,257) and passing touchdowns (41).

Success in Tampa: The Third-Down Specialist

Grizzard was the Tampa pass game coordinator under Liam Coen, who was the offensive coordinator in Tampa and is not the head coach in Jacksonville. One area Tampa excelled in with Grizzard as the pass game coordinator was on third-down, which Grizzard was in charge of, notching an NFL-best 50.7 percent conversion rate during the 2024 season.

Finding a Scapegoat? Addressing the 2025 Tampa Struggles

He was fired after just one season as the offensive coordinator in Tampa, a move longtime Buccaneers beat writer Rick Stroud described as "a bit of a scapegoat for the 8-9 season".

I spoke to a source about the issues with the Tampa offense this season, and they said: "Some of the issues were him. Some of that was bad offensive line play, some was Baker Mayfield pressing and throwing interceptions."

Grizzard began his coaching NFL career as an offensive quality control coach with the Dolphins in 2017, serving in various roles with Miami.  He worked with former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel in Miami before coming over to Tampa as the pass game coordinator in 2024.

Grizzard will now join Mannion in a new look Eagles offensive room for the upcoming 2026 season.
