The Eagles aren’t going to the playoffs for the first time in three seasons after being eliminated last week, losing to the Cowboys. With nothing to play for this week, multiple veteran players have the game off due to various injuries.

The most notable players sitting out are tight end Dallas Goedert, running back Miles Sanders, wide receiver DeSean Jackson, defensive end Derek Barnett, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and left tackle Jordan Mailata have all already been ruled out.

Jackson just came back in Week 16 from a non-displaced ankle fracture, and caught an 81-yard touchdown in the Eagles' Week 16 loss to the Cowboys.

Sanders won't play with knee injury, that isn't serious.  He would likely play if the game was meaningful.

Cox suffered a neck stinger in the loss last week against Dallas. He sat out most of the  Week 16 game and will miss the season finale.

On the other side, Washington, is playing for a playoff berth.  With a win tonight they are in the NFC field as the No. 4 seed.

Washington is planning to start Alex Smith for Week 17 against the Eagles, he had been questionable with a calf injury. He hasn’t played since being forced out of the teams Week 14 game against San Francisco. He has battled that calf injury since then.
