Eagles land former first-round WR Jahan Dotson in NFC East deal with Washington
The Philadelphia Eagles have added depth at wide receiver with a trade, and it’s a familiar name for fans of the NFC East.
The team announced Thursday morning that third-year wide receiver Jahan Dotson has been acquired along with a fifth-round pick from the Commanders in exchanged for a 2025 third and two seventh-round picks in the trade.
The Commanders picked the 24-year-old out of Penn State in the first round of the NFL Draft with the No. 16 overall pick in 2022.
With this Eagles trade, Washington deals from a position of strength. Dotson was part of a crowded wide receiver room that includes Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown, Olamide Zacchaeus, Luke McCaffrey, and Jamison Crowder. The wide receiver room in Philadelphia is much less settled with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith the only two proven players at the position.
Last year in Washington, Dotson had 49 catches on 83 targets for 518 yards and 4 touchdowns. He had 35 receptions for 523 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie.
This preseason, Dotson had just three catches for 16 yards.
The Eagles wrap up the preseason at 1 p.m. Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings at Lincoln Finical. Radio coverage will begin at noon with the pregame show from the Eagles Radio Network on 97.3 ESPN with Merrill Reese and Mike Quick.
