PHILADELPHIA (973espn.com) - The Eagles have announced changes to their football operations department on both the performance and personnel sides.

Fans will be most familiar with former favorites Brent Celek and Darren Sproles being added as personnel consultants as the long-time successful players stick their feet into the scouting end of things. The previously announced move of another favorite, Connor Barwin, as special assistant to general manager Howie Roseman was also formalized.

The most interesting move on the personnel side, however, was Jeremiah Washburn taking on a dual role as director of player personnel, along with being a senior defensive assistant coach. Washburn joined Philadelphia last offseason as an advanced projects coordinator and will now take on Andy Weidl's former role as Joe Douglas' lieutenant before Douglas got the GM role with the New York Jets and Weidl was promoted to VP of player personnel.

Washburn, the son of former Eagles' D-Line coach Jim Washburn, started his NFL career as a personnel assistant and area scout with the Baltimore Ravens before shifting to coaching with Miami, Chicago, and the Detroit Lions.

Tom Hunkele, the Eagles' new director of sports medicine, and Ted Rath, the new director of sports performance, will be leading the sports medicine and performance groups, something which includes everything from the training and strength and conditioning staffs to things like nutrition and sports science. They will essentially replace departing director of high-performance Shaun Huls and director of rehabilitation Shireen Mansoori.

Hunkele worked for the Eagles for six seasons previously during the Andy Reid-Rick Burkholder era before following Burkholder's assistant at the time, Eric Sugarman, to the Minnesota Vikings for 14 years.

Rath, perhaps most famous for his former role as the so-called get-back coach for Sean McVay with the Los Angeles Rams, was found not guilty of misdemeanor sexual battery charges in July.

The Eagles said they did their due diligence on the matter and were comfortable in hiring Rath after his acquittal.
