PFF offseason grades: Eagles earn an A for offseason moves
With the release of the NFL schedule release in the rearview, offseason grades are starting to come out, and the Philadelphia Eagles are one of nine teams Pro Football Focus graded out as an A.
Philadelphia received praise for its ability to draft well and sign key players in free agency to make up for the loss of key losses like Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox to retirement, and Kevin Byard and D'Andre Swift to free agency.
The team added free agents Saquan Barkley, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Bryce Huff, Devin White and DeVante Parker, all of whom should compete for playing time this season.
I don’t know how the Eagles continue to do it.
They lost Kevin Byard and D’Andre Swift this offseason, but Byard wasn’t as impactful as they hoped he would be and they replaced Swift with Saquon Barkley. They also added C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Bryce Huff, Devin White and DeVante Parker. Adding to the significant departures were Fletcher Cox and Jason Kelce retiring.
Then the Eagles dominated the draft again, grabbing Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean to attack their biggest roster need.
Inside the NFC East, the Eagles weren't the only team to ace the offseason test, Washington also received an A. The New York Giants got a B+ for their offseason, while Dallas was one of multiple teams that score the lowest grade in the NFL with a C+.
