After weeks of drama Eagles receive massive 2026 boost involving two key stars
When Philadelphia Sports fans talk about who the greatest Eagles players of all-time are, the list of names includes numerous current and future Pro Football Hall of Famers:
*Tommy McDonald
*Chuck Bednarik
*Harold Carmichael
*Reggie White
*Brian Dawkins
*Jason Kelce
But one active player who does not get mentioned often enough in these "Greatest of All-Time" debates is arguably the most important player to Philadelphia's on-field success over the last decade.
Eagles Fans Finally Get Good News This Offseason
For Philadelphia Sports fans, the drama of the last several weeks have been exhausting. But on Thursday afternoon, Eagles fans got some good news about one of their most important players in Franchise History.
All-Pro Right Tackle Lane Johnson has confirmed reports that he will be returning to play for the 2026 NFL season. If the soon-to-be 36 year old Offensive Lineman plays at least 12 games this upcoming season, he will be tied for the 5th most games played in an Eagles uniform in franchise history.
According to Statemuse, the Philadelphia Eagles are 110-57-1 when Lane Johnson starts (65.8 winning percentage), and without him, the team is just 18-27 (40 winning percentage). Johnson missed the final eight games of the regular and postseason after sustaining a Lisfranc Sprain in his foot.
The 10 games Johnson played in the 2025 NFL season is the fewest games he has been on the field for the Eagles since 2020. In his 13-year NFL career, he has been named a First-Team All-Pro twice (2017, 2002), and a Second Team All-Pro three times (2021, 2023, 2024). Johnson is also one of only four Eagles players who have won two Super Bowl championships in a Philadelphia uniform (Brandon Graham, Jake Elliot, Rick Lovato).
More Good News For The Eagles on Thursday
NFL Reporter and Eagles Insider Derrick Gunn reports that Landon Dickerson will also return for the 2026 NFL season. There was speculative reporting in recent weeks that the 27-year-old Pro Bowl Guard was considering retirement due to the number of injuries he has sustained in recent years.
Dickerson has started 64 out of a possible 68 regular season games over the last four years. He has played through numerous injuries, including issues with his knees, back, and ankles during his five years with the Eagles. He also underwent multiple knee surgeries during his college football career.
The Eagles starting Left Guard has been voted to the Pro Bowl three times (2022, 2023, 2024), and has been a key member of Philadelphia's Offensive Line that has led the way for the Eagles to make two Super Bowl apperances in the last four years.
