Eagles Release Safety Kevin Byard
The Eagles are set to release Philadelphia native and two-time all-pro, Kevin Byard on Friday according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Eagles acquired Byard in a trade on Oct 23 with the Titans in exchange for a fifth-round pick and safety Terrell Edmunds. Byard came over to the Eagles and recorded 75 tackles, three pass breakups and one interception
He was an all-pro for the Titans in both 2017 and 2021, leading the NFL in intercpetions in 2017.
They will save around $14 million in cap space by releasing Byard, giving them about $47 million in cap space in a year where there is some solid talent at the safety position.
The team currently has Reed Blankenship and Tristin McCollum, who signed a reserve/future contract at safety and Sydney Brown recovering from a ACL injury.
