As the Philadelphia Eagles continue to play musical chairs at outside cornerback opposite Quinyon Mitchell, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio seemed happy with the play of third-year player Kelee Ringo on Sunday in Tampa.

"I thought he did good," Fangio said on Tuesday. I mean, he can be better. The true test for him will be to see how he improves, but overall, he did good.

Fangio’s Praise for Ringo’s Development

Fangio went on to explain what he liked about Ringo's performance in Sunday's game against Tampa and some of the things he needs to improve upon.

"He was pretty sticky in man coverage," Fangio explained. I like to see his tackling improve. One thing a guy has to learn that has played predominantly special teams is tackling on defense is a lot different than tackling in special teams, but I'm confident he can improve that."

Ringo’s Impact Against Tampa

Ringo made four tackles, one pass breakup, gave up just one reception for eight yards and recovered a Bucky Irving fumble in the game against Tampa, playing in 82% of the team's defensive snaps.

It's a nice bounce-back for Ringo, who was disappointed that he was not named the starter coming out of training camp, but handled the situation well.

"I think he's handled it very well," admitted Fango. It didn’t affect his role as a special teamer, which he's one of the top ones in the league. I think he knows that, eventually, he'll get a shot, for some reason whatsoever, and he'll be read.

Could Ringo Replace Adoree’ Jackson?

Could that shot be coming now? Could Fangio see Ringo replacing Adoree Jackson, who missed Sunday's game with a groin injury?

As for Mitchell, Fangio stated that while he has been happy with his play, he may have played his best game as a professional on Sunday.

"I thought he played very well the other day," said Fangio. I told him I think it was his best game since he's been here. He played well."

Moving forward, we'll see if the team sticks with Mitchell and Ringo or if Jackson is reinserted into the starting lineup when he is healthy enough to play.
