Eagles Get Great News as Two Starters Are Cleared to Play in Tennessee
The Philadelphia Eagles won in NFL Week One, but they did not come out of the close win over their divisional rival unscathed. In their 24-22 win over the Washington Commanders, the Eagles looked vulnerable on the Offensive and Defensive Lines, an issue that hindsight being 20-20 was because of health issues.
Pro Bowl Left Guard Landon Dickerson admitted in an interview this week that he sustained an injury during Training Camp that has lingered, and resulted in limiting him in the game versus the Commanders. The Eagles placed Dickerson on Injured Reserve, which means the veteran Guard will miss at least the next four games.
Also, Defensive Tackle Jalen Carter, Defensive Back Cooper DeJean, and Safety Andrew Makuba all got banged up in NFL Week One. All three were Limited Participants at practice this week as Philadelphia prepares to travel to Nashville to play the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Eagles get some good news for NFL Week 2
The only Philadelphia player ruled out for Sunday's game in Nashville is the same player who was ruled out for last Sunday: Jonathan Greenard.
The 29 -year-old Veteran Edge Rusher was listed as a Limited Participant at Eagles Practices this week, but he is still not fully recovered from the Pectoral Injury he sustained back in late July. There is speculation that he will be good to go for Philadelphia when they play the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football September 28th.
Good News is that Jalen Carter and Cooper DeJean did not have any injury designations, which means both are fully cleared to play on Sunday afternoon. Carter will be wearing a special cast to protect his wrist after he sustained an unspecified injury during NFL Week One.
Even though Philadelphia's Injury Report says DeJean is dealing with Calf and Abdomen Issues, the 23-year-old All-Pro Defensive Back downplayed any speculation about his health during media availability this week.
The one Eagles player to keep an eye on ahead of the Sunday 1pm EST Kickoff in Nashville is Safety Andrew Makuba. Listed as Questionable with a Knee Injury, Makuba was a Limited Participant at Friday's practice. If Makuba cannot play, Philadelphia is expected to start Michael Carter at Safety in his place.
Titans list three as Questionable but all three defensive players could play on Sunday
Tennessee Head Coach Robert Saleh told the media on Friday that Cornerback Cor'Dale Flott not practicing on Friday was a precautionary move. The 25-year-old Flott started 37 games during his four seasons with the New York Giants before coming to Tennessee this season. The Veteran is listed on the Injury Report with a Quadriceps Issue after playing 98.5 percent of the Titans' defensive snaps in NFL Week One.
Linebacker James Williams was a Limited Participant in practices this week as he deals with an Elbow Injury. In his third year with the Titans, the 23-year-old Williams is a contributor on both defense and Special Teams.
Cedric Gray was a full participant in Tennessee's practices this week, but was in the NFL Concussion Protol. After starting 16 games last season for the Titans, the 23-year-old Gray needs final doctor approvals before he is cleared to play on Sunday.
