ESPN Analyst’s First Eagles Mock Draft Pick Might Surprise You
With the Philadelphia Eagles' season down to the final four weeks, the team is sitting at 8-5, and all the Super Bowl talk is starting to subside after three straight losses.
Well, if the team comes up short of this season's goal of winning the Lombardi Trophy, one way to work their way back to that goal is through the NFL Draft.
While the draft seems like it is a ways off, the college football regular season is over, and it's time to start Mock Draft season.
Over at ESPN.com, NFL Draft analyst Field Yates put out his first mock draft of the season with the Eagles currently slotted to pick 22nd.
So what does he see the Eagles targeting to help fix their roster?
You might be a little surprised with the team's struggles on offense you might think he gives them an offensive lineman or something to kick-start an offense that has struggled pretty much all season long.
Why an Eagles Offensive Pick Wasn't Expected
However, the Eagles have their entire offensive line, plus A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley, and Jalen Hurts signed for 2026, so its hard to find a spot on that side of the ball to invest a first-round pick.
Taking a Risk on Tennessee's Jermod McCoy
However, that's not the case. With the 22nd pick, Yates has the Eagles taking Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy, who missed the 2025 season with an ACL injury.
The Eagles need to add to their cornerback depth opposite Quinyon Mitchell, and we know Philly is a team that always finds value. This would be a calculated risk, as McCoy did not play at all this season after an ACL tear in January. Some scouts believe he is a top-10 prospect, while others are dubious he will even go in the first round without any tape this season.
Yates adds that while McCoy missed the season with an injury, he was excellent with four interceptions and nine pass breakups during the 2024 season, and the Eagles have been known to take a chance on guys with high upside who slip in the draft.
The Eagles need someone to play opposite Quinyon Mitchell, so cornerback seems to be an area that makes sense to target in the draft.
