Tight end Jack Stoll who started the year with the New York Giants, and returned to Philadelphia, was released on Tuesday to make room for the return of Jordan Mailata.

On Wednesday he was signed by the Miami Dolphins.

Stoll got some playing time while starter Dallas Goedert was out, but was the odd man out with Grant Calcaterra a better option in the pass game. Stoll was known for his blocking ability and had just two catches for 10 yards in seven games this season.

For his career, Stoll has played in 57 games, catching 22 passes for 193 yards.

With Stoll waived, he cleared the way for the team to activate Jordan Mailata from the injured reserve, who looks likely to play on Thursday night.

Mailata has been sidelined with a hamstring injury suffered in the win over Cleveland. His return will send Fred Johnson, who performed well in Mailata's absence, back to the bench and give the Eagles all five opening-week starters back on the offensive line together.

Will Grier signs with Cowboys

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Will Grier has returned to Dallas, signing a deal to join the Cowboys practice squad on Tuesday.

This comes after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced that starting quarterback Dak Prescott will undergo season-ending hamstring surgery.

The WVU alum was with the Cowboys organization during the 2021-22 seasons and joined the Eagles organization this offseason after spending time with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore in both Dallas and Los Angeles with the Chargers.

After leaving the University of Florida, Grier spent two seasons at West Virginia, and threw for 3,864 yards, and 37 touchdowns in 2018.

The former third-round pick spent time with the Bengals, Patriots, and Chargers in 2023 before landing with Philadelphia back in March. Grier has appeared in just two NFL games since being drafted by Carolina in 2019, both with the Panthers, throwing for 228 yards, no touchdowns, and four interceptions.

With the Cowboys, he will have a shot to get on the field behind Cooper Rush and Trey Lance the top two quarterbacks on the depth chart.
