Former Sixer Named a Finalists for Basketball Hall of Fame
Former Philadelphia Sixers player and head coach, Maurice Cheeks is one of 13 finalists for the 2018 Basketball Hall of Fame class.
Cheeks, a four-time NBA all-star and all defensive team member, and helped lead the Sixers to the 1983 NBA championship.
Cheeks enjoyed an 15-year career in the NBA averaging 11.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game for five different teams, including 11 season in Philadelphia. Cheeks ended his career, fifth on the NBA career list for both assists (7,392) and steals (2,310).
Other finalists include Ray Allen, Steve Nash, Granty Hill, Jason Kidd, Charles “Lefty” Driessell, Hugh Evans, Rudy Tomjanovich, Chris Webber, Kim Mulkey, Katie Smith, Tina Thompson and Wayland Baptist University.
The final announcement will be made on Saturday, March 31 prior to the NCAA Men’s Final Four in San Antonio.
