The Philadelphia Phillies basically chose to "run it back" this season, with their roster not looking all that different from the one that ended the 2024 campaign, losing to the New York Mets in the NLDS.

The team did add a few new bullpen arms, leftfielder Max Kepler, and starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo to the roster, but lost some key bullpen arms, Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estévez, plus outfielder Austin Hays, who have moved on and are worth checking in on.

Austin Hays, OF,  Cincinnati Reds

The Phillies traded for Hays at the deadline in 2024, looking for a right-handed bat that could play the outfield.

Hays, non-tendered by the Phillies back in November, landed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Cincinnati Reds.

His right-handed bat might be a better fit in this Phillies lineup than Kepler, his replacement.

Jeff Hoffman, P, Toronto Blue Jays

Hoffman has been outstanding for his new team, the Blue Jays, notching a 1.59 ERA, 0.62 WHIP, 16 strikeouts, and five saves in 11.1 innings in 10 games.

The 32-year-old Hoffman was a standout for the Phillies' bullpen last year, striking out 89, tossing 66.1 innings in 68 outings with 10 saves.

Carlos Estévez, P, Kansas City Royals

Estévez got a two-year, $22 million contract with the Royals after being acquired by the Phillies at the trade deadline in 2024 in exchange for RHP George Klassen and LHP Samuel Aldegheri.

He came to Philadelphia and notched six saves for them down the stretch with a 2.57 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 21 innings.

Now in KC, Estévez has a 3.27 ERA in 11 innings, appearing in 10 games for the Royals, saving five games.

Seranthony Dominguez, P, Baltimore

The Phillies shipped Dominguez and Christian Pache to Baltimore in exchange for Hays at the 2024 trade deadline.  He ended up saving 10 games for Baltimore, a 3.97 ERA, with 29 strikeouts over 22.2 innings with the O's.

Currently, Dominguez has yet to give up a run in 2025 with a 0.00 and 0.96 ERA in Baltimore, striking out 10 batters with 8.1 innings pitched.

He had an up-and-down career wth the Phillies, dealing with some arm injuries after a strong 2018 debut season.

Gregory Soto, P, Baltimore

Soto was sent to Baltimore in exchange for a pair of pitching prospects, for Moisés Chace and Seth Johnson. Soto was disappointing after coming to Philadelphia in a trade with Detroit in exchange for Nick MatonDonny Sands, and Matt Vierling, registering a 4.08 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 35.1 innings with the Phillies.

This season with Baltimore, the lefty has a 3.52 ERA, 1.57 WHIP in 7.2 innings, in nine games.

Meanwhile, the Phillies' bullpen has blown six saves and has the second-highest ERA in baseball.
