The Long wait is over: This weekend former Eagles Wide Receiver Harold Carmichael will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame!!  The ceremony in Canton, Ohio will begin at 6:30pm live from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.  Carmichael played for the Eagles from 1971 to 1983, he was a huge target for Quarterbacks Ron Jaworski and Roman Gabriel.  His 6-foot-8 body allowed him to have that long striding running style that made it difficult to defend and tackle him.  He was a defensive backs nightmare and he is the Eagles’ all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.  He finished his career with 590 receptions, 8,985 receiving yards and 79 touchdowns.  In fact, Carmichael once held the record for 127 consecutive games with a catch.  Carmichael played on the Eagles 1980 Super Bowl team coached by Dick Vermeil who lost to the Oakland Raiders.  Carmichael was a four time pro bowl selection. Harold Carmichael is one of my favorite Eagle players ever!!

Don’t look now but the Philadelphia Phillies are winners of their last five games!!  Heading into their game on Friday Night, they are a half game behind the New York Mets who have lost 9 of their last 14 games.  And look who’s coming to town: The Mets are at Citizens bank Park for a three game set starting tonight. What a weekend it will be!!

Don't miss tonight The Locker Room with Billy Schweim and 97.3 ESPN present the 75th annual Margate Memorial Lifeguard races as we will be broadcasting LIVE from the beach in Margate.  Coverage starts at 6pm.

Then The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will get the weekend going with Phillies and Eagles talk starting on Saturday’s show: Scott Mckay and I will talk with a former teammate of Hall of Fame Inductee Harold Carmichael, Ken Dunek!  Ken is in Canton, Ohio for the ceremony and will check in to tell us about the experience.  Then we will hear from Colin Thompson who plays for the Atlantic Shore Baseball team that is headed for the Babe Ruth World Series hosted in Jamestown, New York.  Plus we will recap the Phillies-Mets Friday Night.  Finally we will look at the results from the Margate Memorial Lifeguard races and play interviews with some of the winners of this year's race.

On Sunday’s show, The PT returns: Pete Thompson is back in studio as we look at the Phillies versus  Mets weekend.  The Phillies made a couple of trades before the Deadline and we will talk with Former Phillies All-Star Pitcher and current analyst on the Phillies broadcasts for NBC Sports Philadelphia, Ricky Bottalico.  Do the Phillies have enough to make a run to win the NL East this year?  Plus we will look at the Eagles who are still putting in work at training camp.

All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to Noon on 973 ESPN!!
