
New Jersey Governor Calls for State of Emergency, Sunday, 1/19/25
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has called for a State of Emergency, effective Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 8:00 a.m.
Governor Murphy made the announcement on his X, (formerly Twitter) account.
Governor Murphy wrote:
“I have declared a State of Emergency state beginning Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. We are expecting a winter storm bringing heavy snow, followed by dangerously low temperatures from Monday through Wednesday,” said Governor Murphy.
Just before declaring the state of emergency in advance, Governor Murphy also wrote:
”As always, l urge all New Jerseyans to use caution, follow all safety protocols, and remain off the roads unless absolutely necessary.”
Governor Murphy shared the latest weather forecast from the national weather service in Mount Holly, New Jersey at 5:30 p.m., on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Earlier today, Governor Murphy also shared his thoughts about the fast-approaching freezing temperatures:
“Following this weekend's snow, we are expecting extreme cold with wind chills reaching -10° or below. Dangerously cold conditions are expected to persist through most of next week. Please limit your time outdoors and keep your pets inside as much as possible,” said Governor Murphy.
