Sixers center Joel Embiid has been ruled out for today's scrimmage against the Thunder with right calf discomfort.

The discomfort began on Friday night against Memphis, where he played just 13 minutes, finishing with 10 points, six boards, one assist on 3-of-10 shooting.

He is considered day-to-day and will be re-evaluated tomorrow as the Sixers have one final scrimmage on Tuesday night against Dallas before opening the re-started season on Saturday Aug. 1 against the Pacers in Orlando.

Al Horford will start at center in place of Embiid.

“It’s [the] second game. I feel that it’s an opportunity, truly, not coach speak, to play Al (Horford) more,” said coach Brett Brown said in his pregame meeting with the media.

“To put him with some different groups. I think if this happened three, four games into what we’re calling the regular season, there’s always frustration, selfish frustration and I know frustration at times with Joel. Initially, just trying to be smart with everything and move on.”
