Jonathan Gannon Viewed as ‘Front-runner’ for Houston Texans Job
Philadelphia Eagles fans who want Jonathan Gannon gone, just might get their wish.
According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Eagles defensive coordinator made quite an impression on the Houston Texans and is considered the front-runner for their head coaching vacancy.
One of the hottest names out there is that of Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, who I'm told made a very strong impression in his interview with the Texans and is considered by some in that building to be the current front-runner for the job.
Gannon has interviewed with three teams, in addition to Houston, Minnesota and Denver have all spoken with the 39-year old.
While Eagles fans may not have like the passive style of Gannon's defense, he is a well respected leader around league circles, something that has drawn attention to teams around the league.
But those who have worked with him laud his ability to connect with various types of people, build up the confidence of the players and coaches around him and maintain strong relationships.
It would be a quick rise for Gannon from defensive backs coach in 2020 with the Colts, to coordinator in 2021 with the Eagles, to becoming a head coach, if he gets one of the three jobs he has interviewed for.
Graziano called Gannon this year's Brandon Staley, a young guy, who made a quick rise through the ranks to land a head coaching position. Staley landed in Los Angels last year with the Chargers, after being the Rams defensive coordinator.
