One of South Jersey's and Cape-Atlantic Leagues top players could be leaving the area.

St. Augustine Prep basketball star, junior Justyn Mutts, could be heading to St. Benedict's Prep in Newark. The 6-foot-6 Mutts is one of the top players in the area, he has an offer from Monmouth University, and has helped the Hermits to a 14-0 start, the No. 1 ranking in South Jersey and No. 6 ranking in the state.

The Mutts family released this statement Sunday afternoon:

"Justyn is not a professional athlete nor a commodity; He is a student and our son.

"As a family we make daily decisions directed toward putting our children in the best position to be successful. Our goals for them are to make certain they achieve their aspirations, socially and athletically.

'We are saddened to see comments in the media prior to formally meeting with the proper individuals at the Prep to discuss any particulars in this matter.

"That being said, our family outlook is bright, our resolve is strong and we ask for respect and privacy in this matter."
