The Philadelphia Eagles' struggling offensive line took a big hit on Monday with the news that starting right guard Lane Johnson will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a Lisfranc sprain.

The Lisfranc Sprain: Understanding the Injury

A Lisfranc injury is a foot injury to the ligaments in the midfoot that can cause pain, swelling, and bruising, particularly in the arch of the foot.

"I know that he'll do everything he can do to get back as quick as he possibly can," said Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni on Monday.

Who Steps Up? The Plan at Right Tackle

With Johnson out, Fred Johnson took over at right tackle and will likely remain there until Lane is able to return, with Matt Proyor another option to step in if needed.

"I think they've played good football when they've been able to go in and play," Sirianni stated about the potential replacements.

Johnson has dealt with various injuries this season that have forced him in and out of the lineup, but he has yet to allow a sack this season and is still one of the highest-rated right tackles in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.

Eagles fans are well aware of the teams lack of success with Johnson sidelined.  Philadelphia is 120-62-1 with Johnson,  and just 15-24 without him since 2013, including the playoffs.

The veteran right tackle signed an extension in the offseason that will keep him in Philadelphia through the 2027 season, where he will earn $48 million over the next two years, including $40 million guaranteed.

The Eagles will head to Dallas to face the Cowboys on Sunday. You can listen to the game on 97.3 ESPN with Merrill Reese and Mike Quick calling all the action.
