Lawrence: Ben Simmons Has Been Unbelievable
After 10 games, the Sixers are above .500 for the first time since November 2013 with a 6-4 record and riding a five game winning streak thanks to their win over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night. The win in Salt Lake City was the team's first win in Utah since 2005. Being led by Ben Simmons who is averaging a Double-Double after his first ten NBA games (17.8 Points Per Game and 10.1 Rebounds Per Game), the 76ers and their fans are finally seeing the results on the court of the long term "Tanking" strategy that has been nicknamed "The Process".
SiriusXM NBA Radio Host and Forbes NBA Columnist Mitch Lawrence joined Mike Gill on Wednesday and discussed the Sixers who are tied for the second longest active win streak in the NBA:
“The Sixers obviously do a lot of things right, even though they are very much flawed when it comes to Fouls and Turnovers, they’re number two Assists team in the NBA. They look for each other, they got a great, young rising Point Guard; right now Ben Simmons is the runaway winner for the Rookie of the Year, he’s been unbelievable. His shooting has really been a revelation more than his passing because nobody thought he would shoot this well – When he and (Joel) Embiid are on the court, you see the makings of a real formidable team, obviously if they can stay healthy. And then we are all waiting for Markelle Fultz, I was there the night in Philly when they made the announcement that he hurt his shoulder….I don’t know what the real story is on that, (the explanation is) not passing mustard with many people around the league. We all want to see what Markelle Fultz does on the court with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid because then, look out!”
