Longtime 6ABC Action News anchor Jim Gardner took a pretty funny shot (no pun intended) at Sixers guard Ben Simmons, who returned to the team on Monday.

Simmons showed up unannounced at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday before the Sixers preseason game with the Brooklyn Nets, asking if he could get his COVID test, which is required by the league to play.

Gardner tweeted the following, stating that he saw it somewhere, presumably on the internet.

"Ben Simmons took his COVID-19 shot today, but he missed it."

Simmons of course has a well-documented history of not shooting the ball, which escalated even further in this years NBA playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks.

The comments to Gardner's tweet might actually be better than his attempt at humor.

Who knew Jim, who has anchored the six and 11:00 p.m. weekday newscasts, since May 11, 1977, had such a loyal sports following!
