Les Bowen: Eagles Have Had A Good Offseason
After winning the first Super Bowl in franchise history, the Eagles Front Office has worked to ensure the team in 2018 will continue to stay competitive. With the trade for Michael Bennett, Free Agent signing of Haloti Ngata, along with trading up to draft Dallas Goedert, the Eagles are doing what is necessary to put the best roster they can on the field for this upcoming season.
Philadelphia Daily News Eagles Beat Writer Les Bowen joined The Locker Room with Billy Schweim on Saturday discussing the Eagles offseason after winning Super Bowl 52:
“Certainly free agent signings like (Michael) Bennett and (Haloti) Ngata, those were pretty good, solid pickups on the veteran Free Agent Market. (Eagles) didn’t have a lot of money to spend, they couldn’t go out and get a top tier free agent – They traded picks away to win the Super Bowl, to get Carson Wentz and Jay Ajayi and Tim Jernigan and Ronald Darby, so that’s the price you pay….They had a little bit of a free agent ‘exodus’ with (Patrick) Robinson and Beau Allen and Trey Burton (leaving) – They’re good players, I think one or two of them is probably getting overpaid …. (Eagles) have had a good offseason and I think again, with all the guys coming back that weren’t even in the playoffs (Carson Wentz, Jason Peters, Darren Sproles), I think they look like as least as good a team coming into this season.”
