The Philadelphia Sixers game on NBC Sports Philadelphia had a different sound on Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Sixers fans who are used to hearing Kate Scott describe the action got to hear Sunday Night Football play-by-play voice Mike Tirico call the action.

Tirico, who is a familiar voice among football and golf fans, was on the call instead of Scott, who was still a part of the broadcast team during the pregame.  Tirico will be the lead play-by-play voice when NBC begins NBA Coverage for the 2025-26 Season.

Sixers regular color Analyst Alaa Abdelnaby was working with Tirico for the game.

It is the first time Tirico has called an NBA game since 2016, when he called games for ESPN.

“What a fun opportunity to get a little run in before we get started next fall,” said Tirico. “I am thrilled to get back in the building and call a couple of games while working with our talented regional teams in Philadelphia and Boston. Sincere thanks to my friends Kate Scott and Drew Carter for letting me sit in their chair for an evening.”

He will also be calling a game in Boston on Wednesday night when the Celtics host Portland.
