
New Jersey Sportsbooks Earn Record Profits From Super Bowl 59
The Philadelphia Eagles winning Super Bowl 59 was seen by a record 127.7 Million viewers across different networks and platforms. This is a four percent increase over Super Bowl 58 total viewership (123 Million).
Super Bowl 59 viewership actually peaked at 137.7 Million in the second quarter and there was approximately 133.5 million viewers for the Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl Halftime Show.
The Philadelphia Eagles 20-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs was the largest margin of victory in the Super Bowl since the Seattle Seahawks 43-8 win over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48.
Eleven years ago was also the last Super Bowl where the sportsbooks made their last big profit. The Nevada sportsbooks won over $19.7 million from bettors on Super Bowl 48 and now the new record is $22.1 million taken by the sportsbooks with Super Bowl 59.
New Jersey Sportsbooks See Their Own Increase in Super Bowl Wagering
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin and the NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement announced that the NJ-based sportsbook received 19 percent more wagers for Super Bowl 59 than Super Bowl 58.
NJ Sportsbook operators won more money ($25.2 million) from Super Bowl 59 than the Nevada Sportsbooks. Overall, New Jersey sports bettors got paid a total of $143.5 million from their wagers on the big game.
The majority of South Jersey residents are Eagles fans so one can assume the passionate Philadelphia Sports Fan base was a major contributor to the Sports Wager totals in New Jersey.
Almost 60 percent of all New Jersey wagers placed for Super Bowl 59 were Player Prop bets. But only 20 percent of the 10 most popular Player Prop bets for the big game were cashed by NJ Bettors. This reveals that a majority of the money won by New Jersey gamblers on Super Bowl 59 was from wagers not related to Prop Bets.
