If Saturday night's chaotic finish wasn't enough for you, the Philadelphia Flyers (36-24-12) get right back to it on Sunday night at 7 PM. Their opponent is one of the teams that helped them make up some ground over the previous 24 hours.

The Dallas Stars (44-18-11) are the latest tall task for the Flyers, coming in fresh off a win over Pittsburgh.

Opponent Snapshot: Dallas Stars

  • Opponent record: 44-18-11
  • Special Teams Ranking
    • Power Play: 29.0% (2nd)
    • Penalty Kill: 81.1% (10th)
  • Who’s hot?: Jason Robertson has six goals and 13 points in the last nine games. Wyatt Johnston has six goals and 11 points in the last 10 games. Matt Duchene is on a five-game points streak.
  • Who’s in net?: Casey DeSmith is expected to start for the Stars. He took the loss to New Jersey in his last start on Tuesday, allowing one goal on 16 shots in relief. He lost to Vegas, allowing three goals on 33 shots, in his last start last Sunday. DeSmith is 14-7-5 with a 2.40 GAA and .908 save percentage this season.
  • Injuries: Tyler Seguin is out for the season after ACL surgery. Sam Steel left Thursday's game with an undisclosed injury and remains out. Roope Hintz and Radek Faksa also remain out.

Keys to the Game

  • Find the Energy: The Flyers have some momentum in the playoff race after securing a win on Thursday and escaping Detroit with another crucial two points. To continue that momentum, and earn any form of points, the Flyers will need to dig deep for the energy in this one.
  • Make a Statement: The Flyers have won the back end of their previous three back-to-backs and a win on Sunday would mark the third straight sweep in a back-to-back. That would be quite the statement from a team starting to make noise on the playoff bubble.
  • Stay Hot Sam: For most of the season, Sam Ersson has been a liability as the backup goaltender. Since the Olympic break, however, he's been lights out. In four starts, he has allowed seven goals and made 91 saves on 98 shots, a .929 save percentage.

By the Numbers

  • The Flyers have a 19-7-4 record against Western Conference teams this season. Dallas is 13-9-5 against Eastern Conference teams.
  • Both the Flyers and Stars are ranked in the Top-10 among NHL teams in goals against this season. The Flyers are tied for eighth with 211 goals against. The Stars are second with 197 goals against.
  • Travis Konecny leads the Flyers with six career goals against Dallas. Mikko Rantanen and Matt Duchene are tied for the lead on the Stars with 10 career goals against the Flyers.

Quotable

  • "He's been an absolute game-breaker for us. He's just someone that D do not want to go up against. You have to know where he is at all times on the ice, and even if you do, there's a good chance he's still going to burn you. He's been awesome, tonight especially. You saw pretty much everything on display. Scoring at will and just making incredible plays all night." - Jamie Drysdale on Owen Tippett
  • "I loved our game for 55 minutes. Obviously the 5-on-6, a couple things happened that we've got to shore up. The pressure hit us, we ran out of position, but that's for another day. It's a big win for us. I think a couple teams lost today, so we've got a huge game tomorrow. But I love the way we played for 55 minutes." - Rick Tocchet on Saturday's win

X-Factors

  • Owen Tippett: Tippett essentially carried the team in Saturday's game with a hat trick and an assist, continuing his stellar play of late. Being able to play with speed can be a difference-maker, especially in a back-to-back.
  • Mikko Rantanen: The Stars got their star winger back in the lineup from injury and Saturday and he promptly scored a goal in the win in Pittsburgh. Having Rantanen back adds another dimension to the Dallas offense, especially their power play.
