All's well that ends well, right? That's how the Flyers are probably feeling after a roller-coaster ride of a game on Tuesday night.

The Flyers opened up a 3-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the game, then watched it slip away to trail by one through two periods. But the Flyers rebounded, tying the game in the third and eventually claiming a 5-4 win in a shootout over the Montreal Canadiens.

The Flyers got off to quite the start in this one. Just 1:56 into the game, Bobby Brink re-directed a Travis Sanheim play to the slot for his fourth goal of the season to make it 1-0.

Less than seven minutes into the period, the Flyers got 1:32 of 5-on-3 time and made the most of it. First, Trevor Zegras made a brilliant behind-the-back pass to Cam York for the one-timer, York's first goal of the season, to make it 2-0 at 7:07. Just 43 seconds later, Brink put home a rebound for his second of the game to make it 3-0.

Through 20 minutes, shots were 12-2 Flyers.

The second period was a complete reversal on the scoreboard. Despite out-shooting Montreal, 17-9, in the period, they found themselves trailing after the middle frame.

Montreal got on the board at 3:12 as Kirby Dach took advantage of a fortunate bounce. Just 1:03 later, on the power play, Ivan Demidov set up Nick Suzuki for a one-timer to cut the lead to one.

With 6:32 left in the period, Dach scored his second of the game to tie it at three. Just over two minutes later, Demidov scored a power-play goal to put Montreal in front.

In the third, the Flyers got the lone goal to force the extra session. Nikita Grebenkin's first NHL goal came at 10:51 of the period to knot it at four.

Through regulation, the Flyers had a 40-19 lead in shots.

After an eventful overtime, the game went to a shootout. Zegras scored the lone goal in the first round, as Dan Vladar shut the door on all three Montreal shooters to secure the win.

Vladar made 16 saves on 20 shots in the win. Sam Montembeault made 38 saves on 42 shots in the loss.

Brink, York, Zegras, and Travis Konecny each had two points for the Flyers. Dach, Demidov, and Lane Hutson each had two points for Montreal.

The Flyers remain on the road on Thursday night, taking on the Nashville Predators at 8 p.m.
