After an exciting 2-1 shootout win on Saturday night against the top team in the Western Conference, Winnipeg. The Philadelphia Flyers sit just four points behind a Wild Card spot in the east and now have seven straight home games to try and make up some ground.

Wedged in that seven-game homestand is the NHL trade deadline on Friday, when the team will certainly have other teams calling about acquiring their talent.

Two names to keep an eye on are Scott Laughton and Rasmus Ristolainen.

As we wrote about last week, multiple teams have an interest in Laughton, with Winnipeg at the top of the list, offering a second-round pick, per NHL insider Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff. It is believed, however, that the Flyers won't move Laughton for anything less than a first-round pick, which they haven't been offered at this time.

The same goes for Ristolainen.

The defenseman hasn't generated as much interest on the trade front as the team had expected and might be inclined to keep him if they don't get the offer they are looking for.

According to NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, the team is looking for a first-round pick for Ristolainen.

Having said that, as of Thursday, my understanding is that the Flyers hadn’t received anything that came even close to getting their attention. I believe the price tag to be a first-round pick plus another asset to get the Flyers into a serious discussion.

The Flyers are in an interesting spot, a team that's within striking distance of a Wild Card spot, but at the same time, they are in seller's mode as the deadline approaches.

How will Danny Briere and Keith Jones handle this trade deadline?  We will certainly be watching this week and discussing on The Sports Bash on 97.3 ESPN.
