The Phillies have gone to the college ranks once again in the 2020 MLB Draft, selecting University of South Floridia standout, right-handed pitcher Carson Ragsdale with the 116th pick in the fourth-round.

The 6’8’ righty missed the entire 2019 season due to Tommy John surgery, but showed solid command in 2020 striking out 37 in 19 innings.

Speaking of strikeouts, one of his final games this season with the Bulls, Ragsdale stuck out 10 Florida Gators, a game that the Phillies were in attendance to see.

"He just totally dominated that game," Phillies director of scouting Brian Barber. "We like him as a starter, our interest is in him as a starter."

Barber described Ragsdale as a guy who can get it up to 96 with a heavy curve.
