The Cost of Bringing Back JT Realmuto
JT RealmutoThe 31-year-old hit .198/.282/.369 in 54 games with the Phillies in 2025.
Overall in 100 career big league games with the Phillies, Wilson hit .242/.328/.428 with nine home runs and 29 RBI playing left, right, second base, third base, and first base for the team.
Otto Kemp and the New Utility Plan
Wilson is out of options and would have needed to make the team out of Spring Training. With Wilson potentially out of the mix, the team will likely use Otto Kemp in the super utility role this season, along with Edmundo Sosa, who figures to move around from second, short, third, and maybe even the outfield.
Kemp has played third, first, and moved to left last season, and could find himself in a platoon with Brandon Marsh this season in the outfield.
Realmuto returns as the team's catcher, getting a three-year, $45 million deal with the possibility of earning $60 million with incentives. In 833 career games for the Phillies, the 34-year-old has combined to slash .265/.328/.450 with 121 home runs and 434 RBI.
