Andrew Painter Takes the Mound in High-Stakes Rematch

The Phillies will counter with Andrew Painter, who faced Atlanta on Sunday Night Baseball last week, allowing three runs in four-plus innings in a loss to the Braves.

On the season, Painter has a respectable 4.42 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 18.1 innings pitched.

Roster Move: Alex McFarlane Joins the Bullpen from Double-A Reading

The Phillies also recalled right-handed pitcher Alex McFarlane from Double-A Reading, who has excelled this season in seven relief appearances with the Fightin Phils.  So far, he is 1-1 with a 1.42 ERA (1 ER, 6.1 IP), one save, 10 strikeouts, and four walks while holding opponents to a .190 (4-21) batting average.

He will join the Phillies' balky bullpen, giving them a right-handed power arm, averaging 10.76 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched (173 SO, 144.2 IP) in 54 career minor league games (37 starts).
