The Phillies will not exercise the team options for pitchers Jared Hughes, Pat Neshek, and Jason Vargas.

Vargas posted a 4.51 ERA for the Mets and Phillies this season and will turn 37 in February, Hughes posted a 4.04 ERA over 72 appearances for the Reds and Phillies, while Neshek was limited to 18 innings of relief in 2019 due to shoulder and hamstring injuries.

Five other players are hitting the free agent market, after being outrighted: infielder Phil Gosselin and pitchers Jerad Eickhoff, Mike Morin, Blake Parker, and Edubray Ramos.

Of this group, Eickhoff had a promising start to his Phillies career, but he's really struggled the last couple seasons with injuries. Morin posted a 5.79 ERA over 29 appearances after being traded to the Phillies. Ramos was removed from the Phillies' 40-man roster and declined an outright assignment, making him a free agent.

These moves indicate the Phillies will be rebuilding their bullpen for 2020, allowing 219 2/3 total innings walk to free agency.
