The Philadelphia Phillies had to make a late scratch as pitcher Andrew Painter was dealing with a migraine on Sunday.

Zach Pop’s Career First: From Bullpen to Starter

Right-hander Zach Pop will start in his place. This will be the first time Pop starts a game after 162 big league appearances in the bullpen, which means this will likely be a bullpen game for the Phillies.

So far this season, Pop has a 3.38 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in six games out of the Phillies' bullpen.

Andrew Painter Sidelined: The Migraine Scratch

The Phillies will face right-hander Zac Gallen with a left-handed heavy lineup that features four lefty bats stacked from No. 2 through No. 5.

Painter had an impressive debut in his first outing, but struggled in his second outing on Monday in San Francisco, giving up four runs over four innings in a no-decision.

They did indicate on the broadcast that Painter could still pitch later in the game if he starts to feel better. Our Jeff Kerr saw Painter doing long toss before the game, which means he could potentially feel better as the day goes on.

His next scheduled start is on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park against left-hander Chris Sale. First pitch is set for 1:35 at Citizens Bank Park.
