ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Lions have received calls on Darius Slay ahead of Tuesday's 4 PM ET trade deadline, could one of those calls be from Howie Roseman?

ESPN's Chris Mortensen adds, Eagles are working hard to acquire Slay.

"They're taking a shot at Darius Slay of the Lions, but the price tag on Slay is very, very high," Mortensen said today on Sportscenter.

Slay, 28, is a very solid corner who is under contract through next year, making a reasonable salary of $10.5 million.

A couple of questions arise from this report.

Who would head to the bench in the event the Eagles add Slay, or any other higher profile corner?  Ronald Darby or Jalen Mills?

Both players are coming back from injury and played their first game of the 2019 seaosn together on Sunday in Buffalo and neither is really suited to play in the slot.

One issue for Slay this season has been, like the Eagles cornerbacks, staying healthy. He has missed multiple games with a hamstring injury and missed time this offseason over a contract dispute.

This season in five games he has 16 tackles and one interception.

The two-time Pro Bowler has 11 interceptions over his last two seasons, including eight in 2017. While he is considered one of the better cover corners in the league, is not a truly elite corner like Jalen Ramsey or Patrick Peterson.

But is definitely a name to keep an eye on.
