Free agent and former Sixers point guard Raul Neto has agreed to a deal with the Washington Wizards, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Neto, 28, was a mainly a backup to Ben Simmons last season, averaging 5.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 54 games last season.

The loss of Neto, while not a big deal, leaves the Sixers without a veteran presence behind Simmons at the point, a role that will likely be filled by Shake Milton. With the Sixers drafting Kentucky combo guard Tyrese Maxey, 21st overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, he figures to take some of the minutes Neto had in the rotation last season.

Neto was signed during the 2019 offseason after spending four seasons with the Utah Jazz.
