Free-agent defensive back Jalen Mills will reportedly sign with the New England Patriots when the free agency period begins Wednesday.

According to multiple reports, Mills, who spent the previous five seasons with the Eagles after being drafted in he seventh-round by Philadelphia in 2016, will sign a four-year deal with the Pats that includes $9 million in guaranteed money.

The Eagles opted to not bring back Mills, with salary cap issues, meaning they will be losing a very versatile player who played both safety and corner for the defense in 2020.

After strictly playing corner his first four seasons with the Eagles, the team gave Mills more snaps at safety (55%) in 2020.

Mills, who made 74 tackles, one interceptions in 15 games in 2020 for Philadelphia.

Mills was a starter on the Eagles 2017 team that resulted in a Super Bowl.  Nicknamed the 'Green Goblin' during his time in Philly due in large part to his dyed green hair, was a seventh-round gem for the Eagles.

The team also lost safety Rudy Ford on Monday, per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.  The special teams ace signed a two-year, $4.2 million deal with Jacksonville.
