ESPN's Buster Olney writes that there's a "strong sentiment" within the Phillies organization right now that the team would be better off trading Jimmy Rollins as soon as possible.

While this is not a surprise, a deal is unlikely - Rollins has 10-and-5 rights and can reject any trade, so he is able to control his own destiny.  This isn't the first time we have heard Rollins name swirling around trade talks - and it probably won't be the last this season.

While it isn't clear whether this has anything to do with Rollins' recent issue with manager Ryne Sandberg or if the organization is simply ready to move on.  Rollins has been benched already this spring for three straight games and when asked Wednesday to explain the absences Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg offered a "no comment."

The shortstop is 60 hits shy of overtaking Mike Schmidt as the Phillies’ all-time leader, something that's important to him. "There’s only 30 guys that are their team’s leader in hits," Rollins said. "It’s a pretty high honor."

One topic of conversation has been; would the Phillies limit Rollins playing time this season due to his vesting option in his contract.   Rollins is owed $11 million this season and will have his $11 million option for next year vest if he reaches 434 plate appearances.

So Phillies fans - are you ready to deal Rollins?
