The Phillies fall in game three of the series with the White Sox by a score of 10-5. This means they finish their home stand under .500 and they lose two of three to Chicago in the series. A very pathetic way to play while in the wild card race. Before the game started, the Phillies optioned Maikel Franco to AAA over Sean Rodriguez which was a mistake. Drew Smyly fell back to Earth after allowing a grand slam and five total runs in five innings of work. The best chance to make a come back was in the sixth when the Phillies scored a few runs playing small ball, cutting the deficit to two runs, but Rodriguez hit into a double play to end the inning. From there, the White Sox blew the game open with more home runs. Corey Dickerson had a nice day at the plate.
