The Phillies lose 2-1 to the Boston Red Sox and they are now three and a half games back of the second wild card spot. Aaron Nola was awesome on the mound, throwing for seven innings and recording nine strikeouts. Eduardo Rodriguez was also outstanding as he struck out 12 batters. Nola did have a seventh inning struggle, but Alex Cora elected to bat Rodriguez with bases loaded and two outs. This helped Nola escape with only allowing one run. Rodriguez then fails Cora by walking in the tying run with bases loaded in the next inning and Phil Gosselin wasn't able to come up with a clutch pinch hit. The game was tied in the eighth where the Phils had Jean Segura on second with zero outs. Take a wild guess with where he ended the inning. That's right, second base. Hector Neris blew the game in the top of the ninth and no response by the Phils in the bottom half.
