Aaron Nola didn't have his A+ stuff, but he sure ground through seven innings effectively. Girardi allowed him to go back on the mound with 100 pitches after the sixth.

Juan Soto and Rhys Hoskins traded off solo home-runs to start off the scoring. After the Phils went down 2-1 in the fourth, they responded in the seventh inning thanks to sloppy play by the Nationals. Juan Soto dove for a ball in left-field, allowing Didi Gregorius to get to third base. Victor Robles and Adam Eaton bumped into each other during a routine fly ball in right field. Bryce Harper hit an RBI single to take the lead.

Tommy Hunter, after having passionate words to the media, pitched a phenomenal eighth inning. Brandon Workman worked through a bit of a jam and closed the game.
