The Devils are back on the schedule for the Flyers on Tuesday night, closing out the three-game season series, this time trying to pick up a third-straight win. 

The Flyers hit the road for the first of three games. It starts with a short trip to face the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night.

Three goals in the third proved to be the difference for the Flyers, as they were handed their sixth straight loss, 5-2, to the Devils on Sunday night. 

The Flyers are battered with injuries, but have faced teams dealing with significant losses in their own right and have struggled to keep up in a five-game losing streak. The New Jersey Devils have lost five of their last six game entering Sunday night's action. 

If not for their goaltender, it could have been a different game entering the third. Instead, the Flyers had an opportunity in front of them: win a period, win a game. They won the third period with continued timely saves and timely goals to go with it. Here are five takeaways from Thursday's win over the Devils.

Behind solid goaltending, a good power-play performance and timely goals in the third, the Flyers got back in the win column with a 5-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night.

A fortunate goal got the score even and somehow the game was tied after one period. From there, the Flyers played the dominant forechecking game they have proven to be capable of and actually kept the game in their favor for some time. They got the game to overtime, earned a solid point in the standings, before falling in a marathon shootout that went 11 rounds in a 4-3 defeat to Toronto.

The month of November is going to be a constant test. The Flyers play 16 games in the month, starting with Friday's win, and that includes four sets of back-to-backs. The first of the four back-to-backs concludes on Saturday night on home ice as the Flyers take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
