oth the Eagles and Phillies have been bitten by the injury bug over the last several days.

The Phillies, who are one game ahead of the San Diego Padres and tied with the Chicago Cubs in the National League Wild Card race, received bad news this past Tuesday as the Phillies placed Jesus Luzardo on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation. The move was retroactive to Sept 12th meaning, he will be eligible to return on the final day of the MLB regular season. Luzardo was lights out over his last seven starts with a 5-0 record and 1.08 ERA , along with striking out 64 while walking 11 with a WHIP of 0.80.

The good news for the Phillies is the reassurance of Aaron Nola. Thursday night, the veteran right hander got his seventh win of the season, going seven innings against the Mets, surrendering just three hits and zero runs. Nola looks like he found his groove at the right time.

The Eagles just squeaked by the Commanders last Sunday, 24-22. This week, the Eagles also put one of their best offensive linemen, Landon Dickerson, on Injured Reserve, which means Dickerson will miss the next four games with a bone bruise on his right knee.  Dickerson could return as early as NFL Week Six, but the Eagles could use the 21-day practice window to extend his recovery another couple of games.

The Birds will go limping into Nashville to face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at 1pm. The Eagles added Key players on the defense to the injury report; Jalen Carter, listed as Limited at Thursday's practice, told the media that he plans to play with a cast on his wrist.  Defensive back Cooper DeJean is dealing with a calf and abdomen injury but stll participated in Thursday and Friday Practices.  We will have to wait and see if Safety Andrew Makuba's Knee Issue is serious enough to keep him off the field this Sunday.

The Titans went 3-14 last year, and were the worst offense in the NFL last year but are in a rebuild and second year Starting Quarterback Cam Ward was heavily hyped coming out of college last year. It will be very Hot on Sunday in Nashville with temperatures in the 100’s on the field, and the Eagles are leaving Philadelphia a day earlier to travel to Tennessee for the game.
