The Locker Room with Billy Schweim 2023 Year In Review

The great rollercoaster ride for Philadelphia Sports fans started last January with an Eagles playoff run that ended with a Super Bowl loss on February 12th to the Kansas City Chiefs.  It’s been so much fun to talk about the Eagles, especially knowing that since 2000 the Eagles are tied for the 2nd most playoff appearances (16) in the NFL, trailing only New England (18). 

The Philadelphia 76ers finished the 2022-23 season with a 54-28 record, third place in the Eastern Conference.  Joel Embiid won the NBA MVP award however it was not enough as the Sixers lost in the second round AGAIN and this time to the Boston Celtics after leading the series 3 games to one.  We all have to survive the James Harden drama but Sixers fans have been rewarded with the rising stardom of Ryrese Maxey during this 2023-24 NBA season.

The Flyers had a dreadful 2022-23 season which resulted in the firing of General Manager Chuck Fletcher.  The organization decided to restructure Hockey Operations and thanks to the guidance of Keith Jones (President of Hockey Operations) along with Danny Briere (General Manager) the Orange and Black are finally fun to watch again.

Spring Training 2023 was the first time in a decade which saw everyone on the Phillies bandwagon after their World Series appearance the year before.  What a ride 2023 was but it ended with a deflating loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Championship Series.  They had a 3-2 series lead but the team failed their fans losing two straight home games to end their season.

The Locker Room with Billy Schweim always enjoys bringing you the Beach Patrol Report each summer.  Covering the Dutch Hoffman and Margate Memorial Life Guard Races along with the South Jersey Lifeguard Championships live on 973 ESPN Radio South Jersey was a blast!  Thanks to John McShane, Dan Adams, and Jack Brooks for their help in making the Summer of 2023 another one to remember.

The action didn't stop because after the Summer ended, the Eagles kicked off their 2023 campaign with high expectations.  Heading into New Year's weekend, the Birds are 11-4 and headed for another playoff run.  The Locker Room with Billy Schweim has been broadcasting Live at the Caesars Sportsbook inside Tropicana Atlantic City every Sunday this football season.  We want to thank Joe Giunta, Victoria Becker, and everyone at Tropicana for everything this football season.
