Two Former Eagles Are Pro Football Hall Of Fame Semi-Finalists
The Philadelphia Eagles have a rich Professional History. The organization is one of the oldest in the National Football League, with its first games on record in 1933.
Even though the Eagles won three NFL Championships from 1947 to 1960, the organization is not in the top ten NFL Franchises with former players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There are currently 24 Eagles former players enshrined in Canton, Ohio.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced they have trimmed down their list of 167 Nominees for the 2025 Class down to 25 Semi-Finalists. On that list are two former Eagles players who are another step closer to enshrinement.
What Former Eagles Players Are Hall of Fame Semi-Finalists
The Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will be formally announced at the at the NFL Honors show the week leading up to the Super Bowl in February. The list of Finalists will be announced in December.
The two former Eagles players who made the cut for the Semi-Finalist stage of the Pro Football Hall of Fame process this year are Running Back Rickey Watters and Cornerback Eric Allen. This is the fifth time each player has been a PFHOF Semi-Finalist.
Ricky Watters, selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 1991 NFL Draft, played three seasons for the Eagles in the 1990s. During his time in Philadelphia, Watters was top ten in the NFL in Rushing Yards each season and was selected to the Pro Bowl twice.
Waters played 10 seasons in the NFL and seven of those seasons he accumulated at least 1,000 Rushing Yards. He is on the top 25 list of most Rushing Touchdowns and most Rushing Yards in NFL History.
Eric Allen was selected in the second round of the 1988 NFL Draft by the Eagles. Allen played seven seasons in Philadelphia and was selected one time as an Associated Press First Team All-Pro. He was a two-time AP Second Team All-Pro selection and was picked six times for the Pro Bowl.
Allen's 34 Interceptions with the Eagles are tied for the most in Franchise History with Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins and Eight Year Eagles Defensive Back Bill Bradley. Overall, Eric Allen is top ten in NFL History with Eight Interceptions Returned for Touchdowns and his 54 Total Interceptions land him inside the NFL's top 25 All-Time Most Interceptions.
Wide Receiver Harold Carmichael is the former Eagles player most recently to be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There are currently 10 NFL Franchises with more former players and coaches in the Pro Football Hall of Fame than the Philadelphia Eagles.
