Congratulations to St. Augustine's Lamont Harris for taking home last week's 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week honors.

This week, we have a new batch of local student-athletes this week who have proven themselves worthy in their respective fields.

DeAndre Dennis, Football, Holy Spirit - The Spartans running back celebrated his 18th birthday in style. He rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in a 38-0 state semifinal victory over Bishop Eustace.

 

Tom Flacco, Football, Eastern - The senior quarterback continues to make his mark in New Jersey's record books. Flacco is now third all-time in career passing yards (7,313) in the state after throwing for 300 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-18 South Jersey semifinal win over Millville.

 

Louis Corgliano, Cross-Country, Hammonton - The Blue Devils standout capped off an impressive high school career with a third-place finish at the New Jersey Meet of Champions. The senior finished the 3.1-mile course in 15 minutes, 35 seconds.

 

Cody Sampson, Football, St. Joe - The senior scampered for a pair of touchdown in a 50-0 state semifinal win over Queen of Peace. Sampson gained 98 rushing yards in the victory.

 

David Hood, Football, Absegami - The senior running back clobbered Fighting Clan defenders in a 52-28 victory over Vineland. Hood rushed for 257 yards and five touchdowns on just 16 carries.
